In the last blog post, Controlling QLab Wirelessly using Motion Sensors, I talked about setting up the Raspberry Pi to send Motion data to QLab via OSC messages. In this post, I will expand on that by building out support for multiple sensors as well as providing a dashboard to display the sensor values.

This year, we are setting up Halloween scenes that are triggered by motion. As someone passes by the scene, the scene is triggered. We are using QLab to control our scenes. QLab is show control software for the Mac. I wanted the ability to trigger QLab's playback, from motion sensors, wirelessly. QLab supports trigger notifications via OSC] (Open Sound Control) network commands.

A while back, I created a blog post that explained how to Sort Sitecore Items by Popularity using Google Analytics. In this post, I will explain how to achieve the same goal using xDB. As a quick recap, clients may have a requirement to sort Sitecore items by Most Viewed. In many instances, Sitecore Analytics and xDB are already being used to track analytics information. We should be able to retrieve the data we need from xDB as well as the reporting database. There may be alternate ways to retrieve the data from xDB and the reporting database. I am going to take the route that includes adding a Page Event and a custom Fact Table, demonstrating how they function.

We have several clients that integrate or sync data from their HR system into Sitecore. This typically consists of “people data.” These people appear on the website with their respective biographies. The data is brought over to Sitecore on a recurring basis. While the HR system is considered the authoritative source for the people data, sometimes the marketing department requires the ability to override the data in Sitecore. In some cases, the data from the HR system is not the data they want to display on the website. How do you support this within Sitecore? There are various ways to setup the data templates and structure the data. One way we have found that works well and does not require any additional logic is using language fallback.
