Sitecore: Dynamics Custom Activity Integration
Sitecore provides a connector to integrate Microsoft Dynamics with Sitecore. The connector is called Sitecore Connect for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales. The out-of-the-box implementation provides a good set of standard mappings between Sitecore and Dynamics. There are not many examples of customizing the integration. Sitecore does provide an example of creating a custom facet for population from Dynamics. I had a requirement to bring additional events from Sitecore into Dynamics Activities. I could not find any good examples to follow. I reverse engineered what Sitecore already had for Email Activities in order to support additional events. I just wanted to share what I found in case others are looking to do the same.

Three Digital Trends from Our Sitecore MVPs
Last month, Sitecore officially opened registration for the 2019 Sitecore Symposium, Human Connections in a Digital World. Our team cannot wait until November! The Symposium has always proved to be an excellent forum for connecting with the Sitecore community of developers, partners and clients, as well as educating ourselves on what’s to come, both within the platform and in the overall marketplace. As we anxiously await our trip to Orlando, we sat down with our Sitecore MVPs – Ethel Crosby, director of technology operations and offerings; Mike Skutta, architect; and Amitabh Vyas, technical architect – to discuss recent trends and challenges in the digital space; cybersecurity, headless architecture and personalization. Our MVPs also revealed an “insider view” of Sitecore’s latest offerings and how to best take advantage of the platform.

Sitecore: Account Reporting
Sitecore has several out of the box Experience Analytics reports that report on various pre-defined dimensions. Most of these reports are centered around individual contacts. For clients that have businesses as their customers, business to business (B2B), reports based on Accounts (business) are helpful. It did not look like many account level reports existed in the community, so I created the Sitecore Account Reporting module to provide some of these reports.

Sitecore: JSS Docker Starter Kit
I was experimenting with Sitecore JSS and ran into an issue installing it due to my local install of NodeJS. Generally, I do all of my NodeJS development within Docker containers. I take this approach because I concurrently develop with multiple different versions of NodeJS across projects. Node Version Manager (NVM) can work, but you need to know what version of NodeJS to use based on the project. Only one version of NodeJS is supported at a time.

One Northerners Earn 2019 Most Valuable Professionals Award from Sitecore
One North announced today that Ethel Crosby, director of technology operations and offerings, and Mike Skutta, architect, were named amongst Sitecore’s Most Valuable Professionals. Skutta received the Technology MVP title for the fourth year in a row, and Crosby was recognized as an Ambassador for the second year in a row.
